HOUSEPLANTS-TROPICALS

Welcome to our Houseplants and Tropicals Section. In doing research in the types of flowers we wanted to grow our interest was directed toward antique and heirloom flowers.
In other words, the types of flowers your grandma used to grow in her flower garden. In this fast-paced world there are a lot of things being left
behind in the shuffle and one of them is the older varieties of flowers. We have learned that one of the reasons these flowers have stood the test
of time is because of their hardiness. They tend to have a natural disease resistance, are very adaptable to most conditions and they most definitely
have a much more intense fragrance than the modern hybrids. We hope you learn something about the past and who knows, you might just see that flower
you remember growing in your grandmother’s garden!!!

 | Asparagus Fern Asparagus Fern Asparagus densiflorus
show/hide additional information Description: Asparagus densiflorus 'Sprengeri', or Sprenger's Asparagus Fern, a native of South Africa is not really a fern at all. Even though it may appear fern-like to the inexperienced eye, it has flowers and berries, so is clearly an angiosperm. The true leaves are initially green, but remain on the plant as inconspicuous dry scales. The plant will reach from 2 feet to 6 feet tall.
Growing Requirements: Grows best in full sun.
Useage: Makes a nice filler in combination planters or as a hanging basket subject matter.
|
 | Begonia Rasberry Swirl
show/hide additional information Description: At the edge of the leaf find silver and green; at the heart find raspberry-red. The spiraling leaf-form combines with the colors to produce an almost whirlpool effect which the eye finds irresistible.
Growing Requirements: Grow in partial sun.
Useage: Makes a beautiful houseplant.

 | Cactus Mixed Varieties
show/hide additional information Description: If you love Cactus but don't live in a hot or humid climate, this is the mixture you've been waiting for! All of the varieties in this mix are perennial in zones 3-10, and some are hardier even farther north, surviving the toughest winters with little or no protection!
Growing Requirements: Grow in full sun. Do not overwater
Useage: Makes an interesting houseplant.

 | Canna King Humbert
show/hide additional information Description: Few plants can match the tropical appeal and spectacular presence of canna lilies. Growing from three to over six feet in a single season, these trouble-free beauties originated in South America and the West Indies. They become more popular in the U.S with each passing season and it's easy to see why.
Growing Requirements: Grows best in full sun.
Useage: Amazingly versatile, cannas can be successfully used in mixed borders, massed in garden beds by themselves, tucked between small to medium shrubs and in moist areas.
